You have a pretty flexible job -- take advantage of it. Try getting out of bed instead of fighting sleep, do your work, take a nap if you need later in the day, and see how it works.

I have been battling insomnia for the past couple of months (not to be confused with waking up at all hours to feed the baby...). This is the kind where once I'm up after sleeping only a couple of hours, I cannot fall back to sleep, even when the baby is sleeping...

I just started using Valerian root for the past 3 nights and have slept really well. Maybe give it a try?

Good luck. Insomnia is miserable... I am totally with you.

Christy

That type of insomnia is common in depression.

I've battled insomnia for years, and the best advice I can give you is to keep your sleep/wake routine consistent. Boring, I know, but going to bed at the same time every night, and getting up at the same time every morning, does wonders for me when I go through a prolonged insomniac episode.

Katie

I suffered through this same type of insomnia during highly stressful times in my life.

I usually am having really crazy dreams and they wake me up and then I just sit and think about all of it keeping me up until about 6:30/7 AM, just in time for my alarm to go off.

If that's the case with you, I highly recommend getting up, making hot tea and seated meditation or deep belly breathes to quite your mind and relax. Big deep belly breathes get me back to sleep every time...

Sweet dreams!

Hope that helps!
